Christmas Angel

Have you seen the December Challenge over at Show us your stuff. It's a fun one; use non traditional christmas colours with a christmas themed photo. With the extra criteria as always, being to use at least one handmade item. Make sure you pop on over here to give it a go, there are fabulous prizes up for grabs! And for all of you who have children that scrap make sure to check out Sophie's corner. The monthly challenge Sophie has set for the kids is fabulous. Check it out here.

The journalling on this layout is about our tough Christmas last year. We found out the week before Christmas how sick our Son, Lachlan was and that his condition was incurable. Madeline our angel managed to keep us smiling for Christmas and gave us Joy through the difficult time. Lachlan was born and died 4 days after Christmas. It's hard to believe its been almost a year.
We had a camping christmas trip booked last year but we never made it due to Lachlan's passing. So this year we will be camping and we will do something in remembrance of our son's first year.

Here is my example layout for the use of non traditional christmas colours on a christmas layout. I went with pink, aqua and silver and had fun getting my hands messy with this one!

Sydney paper crafts festival, classes, layouts and meeting scrappy friends!

Hello,
Happy saturday to you all!
A couple of weeks back I went to the sydney paper crafts festival
What a great day I had.

I got to meet the lovely Donna of Ah Scrap who I am currently guest designing for.
Donna and I have been communicating via email for a while so it was great to actually get to meet in person.

I also met one of my other online scrappy friends. Annette a friend from the Forum I live at- Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia.

Annette and I did two classes together. One was Nic Howard's class and the other was Lou Nelson's class.

Both with such different styles but both such lovely ladies and such talented artists.

I was sat in Lou Nelson's class next to a lovely lady. I asked her name and she told me Leonie. I know of 2 scrapping Leonie's on my blog roll. So I asked her surname and sure enough she said Waldron, I had been following her blog for some time! It was once again fabulous to get to meet her and watching her scrap was awesome too, she was a natural at Lou's style. Check out Leonie's blog here.

I didn't get time for much shopping with classes on most of the day but I did manage to nab some new chipboard and alphas.

Here is my favourite layout from the classes. It was Lou Nelsons' class of course. We played around with misting gesso and organic elements. Notice the gorgeous imaginarium designs chipboard designed by Lou herself.

This  next one is from Nic Howard's class

And a 2nd layout from Lou Nelsons' class. Playing around with tissue paper, wire and more misting.
I'm not so happy with how this one turned out. But really enjoyed the creative process and learnt from it.

Boaties

Here i am playing catch up again today!

This time I'm sharing my DT layout for CSI, case file number 42. It was my 2nd last case as a Detective (DT member) at CSI.

This is the gorgeous case file:

Now I have never really been a scrapper who uses sketches. But recently I have been a bit lacking in scrapping Mojo. Then last month at CSI we teamed up with OAUS and we scrapped our case files using sketches and WOW I loved it.

So for this layout I have used a sketch created by
the very talented Michele. Michele's blog is here, she has amazing sketches on there. Michele is a member of the CSI design team and designs all the downloadable co-ordinates for the CSI case files. She is uber talented!

Here is the gorgeous sketch, thanks Michele! :

Here is my DT example for the case file:

40 rocks

Another post from me today!
I'm playing catch up.

I want to share my last case file as a Detective (DT member) at CSI.
My design term came to a close and i decided not to reapply for another term.
It was a very hard decision as CSI is an amazing place. The team I was designing with were incredible artists and Debbi runs everything so well. CSI helped my creative mojo when I needed it most, when I was grieving, the case files and the awesome journalling prompts really helped me to Scrap as therapy.

The new design team members and the old ones staying on have been announced here. What a talented team hey! I look forward to seeing all of their creations.

Here is case file 43.

For my evidence I used:
Frames
foliage
something transparent
flourishes
a black and white patterned paper
rub ons

For my testimony I used
Document a special event.
Tie two ideas together: Write what first comes to your mind about your subject. Then, choose a connective from this site and write what comes to mind next.
I chose the connective words: first, then and later.
I used one of the inspiration words; event.

On my layout I have used 4 gorgeous Ah Scrap goodies; a bottle cap, 2 buttons and a pinwheel. Make sure to pop on over here to get some of your own Ah Scrap embellishments.
