Easter cutie

I hope you all has a good weekend.
It's been a pretty awful four days here for us.
With little miss being sick and then passing it on to me.
But thankfully we are both much better today.
I did manage to get some scrapping home while we were stuck at home getting better.

This is my take on Ant's june monthly sketch challenge.
It's an exclusive sketch from Page Drafts.

It was really fun to work with.
I rotated the sketch 90 degrees anti clockwise and moved the title to make the sketch my own. That was the extra criteria for Ant's challenge.

My world

Hello everyone,
Happy thursday.
I normally would be at work right now. But my little girl is sick with a vomitting bug : (
She is tucked up in bed right now. So I thought I would use this time for some blogging.

The Group 2 june challenge is up at Show us your stuff. You should pop on over and take part.

The challenge is to take inspiration from this awesome paper art.  Additional criteria is as usual to use handmade goodies.

I found inspiration in the tree- I found a similar chipboard tree in my stash.
I also based my colour scheme on the image- I used predominately brown and bits of white and teal.

This project is rather mixed media.
I used lots of trinkets and bits of old jewellery I had been stashing, like a little bower bird : )
So it was great to get some of that used up.

Ice cream fever

So for my evidence I used:

For my testimony:
I journalled about my daughters feverish love for ice-cream!
I was inspired by a number of things-
The inspiration word cool, the queen's meme post see here: point number 3. Asking "what is your irresistible temptation".
And I wrote my journalling in 3 circle journalling spots.

Scrapbooking roulette!!

Here is my take on Vicki's awesome challenge for our May cyber crop over at scrapbooking top 50 this month with a casino based theme.

The cyber crop is ending at Midnight tonight. So you still have some time to get entries in. And make sure to join in our our current monthly challenges.

We will also have another cyber crop starting next month.

So the challenge was based on the game of roulette. You had to pick either red or black as the dominant colour for your layout. And also have a 3 embellishment cluster, with one odd embellishment in there.

I went with red as my dominant colour.
I created my background by placing some alphas on my page and the surrounding them with randomly placed odd alphas. I then coated them all in multiple coats of red acrylic paint.
In fact it nearly took me a whole page as I used some dark coloured glitter alphas which were hard to cover.
Anyway I like the background effect and will try it again some time.
I have a few embellishment clusters. But my vertical one on the right hand side of my page has 2 red and white spotted buttons and 1 odd embellishment- a crocheted flower.

Easter 2012!!

Which is the theme of my DT layout for Case file number 23 at CSI.

Now back to the case. For this case I really didn't have lots in the way of the colour palette in my stash. So the free printable  co-ordinates design by Michele were perfect. I printed them of, on my computer at home and mounted them on card stock. I then layered them to create visual interest and used them to write my journalling on. Michele is an amazing digital designer and we are lucky that she creates free printable files for all members to use for each case.

So don't let the fact that you don't have the correct colours in your stash turn you off from completing the case. As the co-ordinates Michele designs are amazing and can keep you meet the colour criteria, evidence and testimony.

Terrific twine!!

Happy June 1st to you all!

Ok I have a scrappers confession for you all...... I love to buy different coloured bakers twine but I very rarely use it. Do you do the same with twine? Or maybe you like to collect another scrappy product but not use it : )

This scrappy confession prompted my monthly challenge over at Scrapbooking top 50.

So I decided to set a challenge to use up a bit of my twine and to motivate others to do the same.

As twine really is very versatile and can be used in so many ways.

I'd love for you to pop on over and give my challenge a go. There is a wonderful prize- goodies from D-lish scraps.

Now back to the twine!

I have seen twine used to create frames on pages and photos, twine and a glue pen used to create title words made completely out of twine and multiple other embellishments made out of twine.

Here are some closeups of the way I have used twine on my layout (my apologies for the dull photos- it is overcast here today):

You can give chipboard alphas some great texture by covering them in strips of twine:

A cute and cheap embellishment can be made by cutting a scrap paper circle and gluing twine in a spiral too it. Add a button in the centre for added cuteness : )

Give an old embellishment a makeover by covering it in twine. I grabbed an old kaisercraft wooden flower and wrapped lots of twine over it, covering the chipboard. I then added a button to the centre.

So have you checked out the casino cyber crop we have going on at SBT50.

Here is my example layout for the Jackpot challenge I set,
Criteria is to use, bright colours, bling and a big title.

I managed to do just that. The title is relatively big compared to the usual size alphas I use and also compared to the other text on my page, I used bright colours and yep bling!
